Hiking Trails

We all know how it feels. With the cost of living these days most of us are just trying to make ends meet. You've had a hard week at work. If your like most of us you don't get to work in the great outdoors. Your stuck inside, all week. By the time the weekend comes your ready to do something fun, but what? The price of gas alone can kill your entertainment budget, forget movies. Some of us do need to eat. We will inform you on some simple yet cost effective way to have fun and safe time in the great outdoors.

We love the idea of going green and we are going to show you some ways to go green on the hiking trails. For example have you ever needed to make a call and your cell phone battery is dead (grrrrr) If you are on the hiking trails and emergencies happen, it could mean the difference between life and death. There are options that allow you to go green on the trail.

A great way to exercise is hiking. For those of us who can’t afford a gym membership hiking can offer most of the benefits of a gym. Just a lot more beautiful. You hear doctors out there talking about a good cardio workout. What better cardio can you have then taking a brisk walk up a river. UPSTREAM Twenty minutes of that will definitely get your heart pumping. Not to mention finding some great fishing spots on the way.

Hiking on the trails is also a wonderful way to improve your stamina and breathing. If you are up for the challenge you can even jog some areas.

Hiking can also be great for us small time explorers. We have started out in populated areas and following the river. Found some gorgeous waterfalls, scenic views and amazing wildlife. Never quite knowing where you’ll end up. Some of us will follow a river and then turn around and take the same path home. There are others of us (guilty) That prefer a different route home, and finding your way back out is half the fun.

Still others prefer hiking trails to relax. When I was a teenager I fell in love with this little hiking trail (old rail road tracks) down the road from my house. Within a half an hour I was in the middle of nowhere. With nothing around but the lady slippers they lined both sides of the trail. Not to mention the big fat mountain blueberries. If you kept walking it took you out to one of the greatest horn-pout fishing spots that I know. This spot was only forty-five minutes away from my house and I learned some hard lessons on what you should bring to cover just about any emergency. Hiking trails are also a great way for families to get quality time together.

For those of you we like to splurge after a long day of hiking and adventuring we will show you some beautiful retreats for the lazy hiker.

Hiking trails can be up mountains, down into valleys, near rivers, into caves, or just following the old tracks. You must make sure that you are properly outfitted for safety, because you never know when accidents are going to happen out on the hiking trails.
